Koh Tao Cabana
★★★★☆
Beach Resort
Koh Tao, Thailand
At the quiet end of Sairee Beach, a tropical resort of jungle-set villas, sea views, Thai dining, a beachfront pool, and Kajavari Spa.
About the hotel
Set at the quieter northern end of Sairee Beach on Koh Tao's west coast, Koh Tao Cabana occupies a tropical hillside descending towards the Gulf of Thailand. The resort spreads across approximately 30 rai, or 11 acres, with villas positioned among mature vegetation, granite rocks and the shoreline. Its location offers direct access to the beach while keeping the restaurants and social life of central Sairee within walking distance.
The experience is shaped around privacy and the natural setting rather than a conventional resort layout. Koh Tao Cabana deliberately maintains a quieter section of Sairee Beach, restricting motorised water sports and beach vendors immediately in front of the property. Accommodation is scattered through the grounds rather than concentrated in large blocks, giving many villas their own outlook towards the gardens, hillside or sea.
The resort has approximately 55 rooms and villas across a broad collection of categories, from hillside Cottage and Whitesand accommodation to Honeymoon, Treehouse and larger beachfront pool villas. Timber beams, bamboo furniture, thatched forms, terraces and semi-open bathrooms define much of the architecture, while selected villas add private pools, Jacuzzis, panoramic sea views and direct access towards the beach.
Days tend to revolve around the water. Guests can snorkel directly from the resort's beach, arrange island and diving excursions through the front desk, swim in the beachfront pool or spend time at Kajavari Spa. Rim Lae Restaurant sits beside the sea and serves Thai cuisine, seafood and international dishes throughout the day, with breakfast overlooking the bay and the coastline becoming particularly atmospheric around sunset.
Today, Koh Tao Cabana is particularly well suited to couples, honeymooners, families and travellers who want the convenience of Sairee Beach without staying directly within its busiest section. The combination of tropical hillside accommodation, direct sea access, distinctive villa categories and a quieter beachfront setting gives the resort a character that feels closely connected to Koh Tao itself.
