CasaBlu
★★★★☆
Boutique Hotel
Mijas, Spain
A secluded Andalusian retreat above Mijas, with 12 individually designed rooms, gardens, a pool, sea views, and intimate dining.
About the hotel
Set within Rancho de la Luz on the hillside outside Mijas Pueblo, CasaBlu occupies a quiet position between Málaga and Marbella, with views extending across the surrounding mountains and towards the Mediterranean. Fuengirola and the Costa del Sol coastline sit below the property, while the whitewashed streets, museums, restaurants, and viewpoints of Mijas Pueblo remain within walking distance for guests comfortable with the area's steep terrain.
The property remains closely connected to its origins as a family home. CasaBlu was created by the current owner's father as a place where friends and family could gather, and this sense of intimacy continues to shape the hotel today. The small team emphasises local hiring, personal hospitality, nature, and an interpretation of Andalusian identity influenced particularly by the region's Arab heritage.
Across approximately 1,200 square metres, the hotel contains just 12 individually designed rooms and suites. Premium Bedrooms, Deluxe Suites, Privilege Suites, and the Signature Suite interpret different aspects of Andalusian culture through colour, artwork, materials, and decorative references. Hästens beds, Egyptian cotton linen, Molton Brown amenities, rainfall showers, deep bathtubs, and private terraces appear across selected categories, with views ranging from the gardens and mountains to the Mediterranean.
The experience extends into landscaped gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, and a quiet library, while food has become an increasingly important part of the property. Zafir Restaurant interprets Andalusí culinary heritage through seasonal ingredients and contemporary technique under chef Julio Jiménez, with an evening tasting menu built around ingredients sourced from the region and its culinary history.
Today, CasaBlu is particularly well suited to couples, design-conscious travellers, gastronomic stays, and guests looking for a quieter Costa del Sol base away from the larger coastal resorts. Yoga, massage, beauty treatments, workshops, wine experiences, and regional excursions allow guests to spend much of their stay around the finca, while Mijas, Fuengirola, Málaga, Marbella, and the wider Andalusian landscape remain accessible for day trips.

Creator experience
“Finca Casa Blu felt like a true retreat for the soul. I loved how the peaceful gardens, intimate atmosphere, and beautiful blend of Spanish and Moroccan influences made it so easy to slow down and disconnect. Every corner felt thoughtfully designed, with little spaces that invited you to simply enjoy the moment. Starting each morning with a fresh, healthy breakfast made the experience even more special, creating a stay filled with charm and tranquillity.”
