About the hotel

Located directly on Mariahilfer Straße in Vienna's 6th district, Hotel MOTTO places guests in one of the city's liveliest shopping and cultural areas. Neubaugasse U3 station sits beside the hotel, while MuseumsQuartier, the historic Spittelberg district, Naschmarkt, and the city centre can all be reached easily on foot or by public transport.

The building has more than three centuries of hospitality history, with the Goldenes Kreuz inn recorded here as early as 1665 before the property later became Hotel Kummer. Reopened as Hotel MOTTO in October 2021, the restored building combines preserved historic character with a design language influenced by 1920s Paris, contemporary Vienna, and Scandinavian warmth.

The hotel comprises 91 rooms and suites across five categories, from compact PETIT rooms to 35-42 m² Junior Suites. Oiled herringbone parquet, soundproof French windows, custom-made details, Venetian mirrored surfaces, natural-material beds, and carefully selected fabrics give the interiors a distinctive handcrafted character. Eight ART DELUXE rooms add mirrored walls featuring original graffiti artwork by Sasha Knezevic.

Food, art, and wellness extend the concept beyond the guestrooms. Chez Bernard occupies the seventh floor with French-influenced cuisine and a seasonal rooftop terrace, while MOTTO Brot serves freshly baked pastries from the hotel's own organic bakery. A 65 m² wellness area includes a sauna, steam bath, relaxation space, and fitness room, while collaborations with nearby studios introduce yoga, Pilates, massages, and other wellbeing experiences.

Today, Hotel MOTTO is particularly well suited to couples, design enthusiasts, food lovers, and cultural travellers looking for a characterful Vienna base where architecture, gastronomy, art, and city life are closely connected.

Creator experience

“Hotel MOTTO perfectly blends contemporary style with the timeless charm of Vienna. I loved how its central location made it easy to explore the city's historic streets before returning to a space that felt both elegant and inviting. From the beautifully designed interiors to the warm hospitality and vibrant atmosphere, every detail made this a memorable stay that I would gladly experience again.”
