Baixa House
★★★★☆
Aparthotel
Lisbon, Portugal
A characterful aparthotel combining restored Pombaline architecture, local design, and apartment-style living in Lisbon's historic Baixa.
About the hotel
Located on Rua dos Fanqueiros in Lisbon's historic Baixa district, Baixa House places guests within a short walk of Praça do Comércio, Rossio, Praça da Figueira, Chiado, and the city's riverfront. Tram 28 stops just around the corner, making the property exceptionally well positioned for exploring central Lisbon without a car.
The aparthotel occupies a late 18th-century building that was carefully restored while preserving original elements such as wooden floors, decorative tiles, windows, and ceilings. The restoration was completed in 2011, giving the historic structure a new purpose while retaining the architectural character of Lisbon's downtown district.
Baixa House offers 13 individually designed apartments, each named after a Lisbon garden that inspires its interior decoration. The collection includes one, two, and three-bedroom apartments with living areas, private bathrooms, and equipped kitchens, providing the independence of a city residence with the support and services of an aparthotel.
Fresh breakfast products are replenished inside each apartment, with bread delivered in the morning. Daily cleaning, complimentary WiFi, an elevator, laundry facilities, personal assistance, and thoughtful details such as Portuguese handicrafts and natural flowers complete the experience.
What distinguishes Baixa House is its genuinely residential atmosphere. Guests can prepare meals, enjoy breakfast privately, and experience Lisbon at their own pace while still benefiting from attentive service and one of the city's most walkable locations.
Today, Baixa House is ideal for couples, families, small groups, design enthusiasts, and travellers looking for more space and independence than a conventional hotel room.

Creator experience
“Baixa House felt less like a place to stay and more like having my own beautifully restored Lisbon home. I loved the sense of freedom the apartments offer, from relaxing in the sun filled living spaces to admiring the original architectural details after a day exploring the city. Combining the privacy of an elegant home with the thoughtful service of a boutique hotel, it created an experience that was both authentic and deeply memorable.”
