Nature Retreat

Ardennes, Belgium

A secluded forest retreat with cosy cabins, wood-fired warmth, private hot tubs, and slow-living experiences beside the Sûre River.

About the hotel

Set in Martelange on the Belgian-Luxembourg border, Nutchel Les Ardennes is immersed in the landscapes of the Anlier Forest Nature Park beside the meandering Sûre River. The forest village remains only a 10-minute walk from Martelange, while Luxembourg City is around 40-50 minutes away, creating an easy balance between complete immersion in nature and access to the wider Ardennes region.

The retreat is built around Nutchel's back-to-basics philosophy, encouraging guests to disconnect from everyday routines and reconnect with nature and the people around them. Rather than replicating a conventional hotel experience, the concept intentionally simplifies daily life through wood-fired heating, limited electricity, candle and oil-lamp evenings, and the absence of WiFi inside the cabins.

The property comprises 30 Cosy Cabins designed for two to six guests, with categories including Sweet, Classic, Canopy, and Tree Trunk configurations, alongside selected cabins with private hot tubs. Large steel-framed windows frame the surrounding forest, while open-plan interiors combine comfortable beds, a woodstove, equipped kitchen, hot shower, and a sheltered furnished terrace with a gas barbecue.

What distinguishes Nutchel is the deliberate simplicity of the experience. Days can revolve around hiking, cycling, fishing beside the Sûre, seasonal creative activities, or quiet time around the cabin, while breakfast, barbecue, raclette, brunch, and other locally sourced food baskets allow guests to prepare meals privately without needing a traditional restaurant.

Today, Nutchel Cosy Cabins is particularly well suited to couples, families, groups of friends, and nature-focused travellers seeking a slower stay where forest walks, fireside evenings, and shared outdoor experiences replace the routines of a conventional hotel.

Creator experience

“Nutchel Les Ardennes is the kind of place that encourages you to slow down and reconnect with nature. Surrounded by peaceful forests, the cosy cabin offered the perfect escape from everyday life, with mornings spent listening to birdsong and evenings relaxing by the wood-burning stove. The simplicity of the experience, combined with the beautiful surroundings, created a stay that felt both refreshing and wonderfully memorable.”
